In 1980, I began a private practice of short term, goal oriented psychotherapy, near downtown Westfield, Massachusetts. I use a relational, psychodynamic, problem solving approach with people of all ages - individually or with their partners and/or families. I have post-graduate training in cognitive behavioral therapy, trauma treatment (including EMDR Level II), and families in transition. I have helped those who have a variety of issues and illnesses including: eating disorders, post-traumatic stress, grief, anxiety, life transitions, relationships and ;addiction.
What do all those initials mean? MSW describes my graduate school degree-;"Masters in Social Work." The Commonwealth of Massachusetts conferred the status of Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker in 1980, following supervised clinical work and an examination. This license requires 40 hours of continuing education every two years, and is the highest level of licensing in my field. I have also received the designation of "Diplomate" in clinical social work from two national organizations. |
